European Coalition on Homeopathic & Anthroposophic Medicinal Products

Health in all policies

Health is determined to a large extent by factors outside the actual area of health. Therefore, effective health policy must address and take account of all relevant policy areas, such as social, tax, environment, education and research policies. In fact, all EU policies are required by the EU treaty to follow this ‘Health in all Policies’ approach.

The key role of health has been broadly recognised and is now an integral element in most major EU strategic initiatives, such as Europe 2020 and the European Semester Process, where the European Commission is in a position to recommend specific policy approaches to individual Member States in order to have effective and sustainable health systems. Health is clearly seen as a factor in the EU’s prosperity and growth.

Why is this relevant for ECHAMP?

Health has now formally been recognised as an important element in the realisation of ‘Europe 2020,’ the overarching EU vision for prosperity and growth, and other major policy instruments. Homeopathic and anthroposophic medicinal products can make a sound contribution to positive health outcomes and sustainable health systems and awareness of this potential contribution needs to be increased.
