Commissioner Borg to speak at EP Interest Group ‘MEPs for CAM’
DG SANCO Commissioner Tonio Borg will make a keynote speech at the next meeting of the European Parliament Interest Group ‘MEPs for CAM’, which will be held on 27 June in the European Parliament in Brussels, as a joint meeting with the Interest Group ‘MEPs Against Cancer’. The topic of the meeting will be ‘Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM): An investment in health.’
The meeting will be hosted by Alojz Peterle MEP and Sirpa Pietikäinen MEP.
Other speakers from the CAM community and academia will make presentations outlining the role of CAM in prevention and treatment, its cost effectiveness and efficiency, its provision, its integration into the healthcare system and its relevance to the EU’s current policy ‘Investing in Health’. Speakers include Dr Ton Nicolai, from ECH and EUROCAM, Ms Solveig Wiesener, senior adviser at NAFKAM, University of Tromsø, Stephen Gordon, ECCH and EUROCAM, Nand De Herdt for ECHAMP, Seamus Connoly, EFCAM, Professor Dr Erik Baars, University of Applied Sciences, Leiden and Dr Elio Rossi, Tuscany Network of Integrative Medicine.
